On January 31st, we will be holding a meeting and focusing on the Amazon SimpleDB service. This service was revealed to the public in December 2007.
"Amazon SimpleDB is a web service for running queries on structured data in real time. This service works in close conjunction with Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), collectively providing the ability to store, process and query data sets in the cloud. These services are designed to make web-scale computing easier and more cost-effective for developers." - http://aws.amazon.com/simpledb
- Mitch Garnaat and David Kavanagh will discuss the service itself and using it from boto and typica.
- Mitch will discuss a python object persistence layer for SimpleDB.
- David will discuss a Relational Database mapping tool for SimpleDB.
The meeting will take place at the directThought office (29 Goodway Drive, Rochester, 14623) from 6-8pm, Thursday, January 31st.
